What to expect

Learning  The Mon-Yough Plumbing Apprentice Evening School offers the required training in the plumbing industry to prepare the student for the journeyman plumber examination. The courses provide the student with the necessary training to be in compliance with the plumbing code. 576 school hours are devoted to this task, without any deviation from the study of plumbing theory.  The classes are held in a safe, comfortable environment at the McKeesport High School at 1960 Eden Park Blvd., McKeesport, PA 15132.

The semesters are: January, February and March (Spring Semester)

September, October and November (Fall Semester) Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM Each semester, there will be a $595.00 enrollment fee.  We are very happy that we have been able to keep our tuition the same for the last three semesters while other costs are rising. Students are also taught the IPC/Allegheny County Plumbing Code Theory.

Please note that your tuition includes:

1) Mathematics for Plumbers & Pipe fitters

 2) All notebooks/paper and pencils

 3) Apprentice registration card for Allegheny County

 4) Each semester consists of 24 school nights

We do not give out any certifications (such as back flow/D.O.T.) since this may be in conflict with their employer.  During these hard economic times it is hard for licensed plumbers working for legitimate plumbing companies to compete with unqualified, unskilled handymen, let alone competing with certified apprentices.  Please note that, because the apprentice program is four years, and a minimum of five years plumbing experience is required to receive ASSE back flow certification, we are unable to provide that training.  It has always been the policy of M.Y.P.A.S.  to teach the theory of the plumbing codes, and to prepare the apprentice for the journeyman/master examination required by  the Allegheny County Health Department.
