Our Plumbing Apprenticeship program provides the following to our students:
First Year Apprentices First year students receive a math book which is theirs to keep as a useful reference guide, both while in school and in the future. They also receive a notebook with paper and pencils. Math is taught by a certified math teacher with a Masters Degree in Math.
Second Year Apprentices Second year students are taught with IPC/Article XV Code book with inserts, they also receive handouts pertaining to our school's curriculum, and drawings with additional math calculations.
Third Year Apprentices Third year students use the IPC/Article XV Code book. Code books will be given at the discretion of M.Y.P.A.S. They also receive handouts pertaining to our school's curriculum, and drawings with additional math calculations.
Fourth Year Apprentices Fourth year students use the IPC/Article XV Code book. Code books will be given at the discretion of M.Y.P.A.S. They also receive several drawings and review possible exam questions.
All math problems and elevation calculations are reviewed. If needed, a review of the math learned during their first year will be conducted by the First Year math instructor. Instructors will review math for plumbing. All information learned during the apprenticeship will be reviewed to prepare the students for the Journeyman Examination administered by the Allegheny County Health Department.
